Tupelo Honey is harvested only from the river basins of Florida's panhandle, and is a product of the White Tupelo Gum Tree, native to the area. This distinctly flavorful raw unfiltered honey is the only honey that will never granulate because of the low dextrose content. It is unlike any other honey in the world. It is light in color with a slightly greenish cast when held up to the light.
We have found a beekeeper who is very dedicated to making Tupelo honey. Like anything in life, specialized knowledge will make the best product and we believe we have found and excellent supplier. He must move his bees to the groves when the trees are just starting to flower and then immediately remove the honey supers when the flowers cease blooming. Sometimes this is as little as five days!
All of the factors above make this some of the most expensive honeys on the market. No wonder Van Morrison sang about this honey! (Couldn’t help it – just had to throw that in.) Enjoy and savor the unique taste.
We package this honey in a convenient dripless one-pound jug. It’s dripless not only to save the precious honey, but stops the “stickies” too!
